The International Richard Strauss Society wishes both Richard Strauss and its new President Camilla Nylund a very happy birthday!

The world-famous soprano, who studied in Salzburg and made her Salzburg Festival debut as Ismene in Strauss-Wallerstein's 1931 arrangement of Idomeno, was unanimously elected as the Society's first female president at the last General Meeting on 15 April 2025. The proposal for her candiacy came from our longserving VP Wolfgang Gerold, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday in May.

Die Internationale Richard-Strauss-Gesellschaft gratuliert Richard Strauss und ihrer neuen Präsidentin Camilla Nylund ganz herzlich zum Geburtstag.

Die weltbekannte Sopranistin studierte in Salzburg und debütierte bei den Salzburger Festspielen als Ismene in Strauss-Wallersteins Bearbeitung von Idomeneo (1931). Auf der letzten Mitgliederversammlung am 15. April 2025 wurde sie einstimmig zur ersten Präsidentin der Gesellschaft gewählt.
Der Vorschlag für ihre Kandidatur kam von unserem langjährigen Vizepräsidenten Wolfgang Gerold, der im Mai seinen 70. Geburtstag feierte.
